1951 BSA Star Twin Bonneville Racer

Star Twin engine number were ZA7S-101 on for 1949 & 50, AA7S-101 on for 1951 & 52 and BA7S-101 on for 1953 & 54. The standard A7 had a similar engine numbering system but the "S" was omitted. Both models used the same frames which were numbered ZA7S-101 on from 1949 to 52 and BA7S-101 on for 1953 & 54. Incidentally, the Plunger A10 also used.

The engine in the A10 was a redesigned and improved version of the A7 engine. A 497 version of the redesigned engine was produced for the A7. Initially fitted in the new A7S Star Twin, it was also fitted to the base A7 model in 1951. The new engine had a shorter stroke with bore and stroke dimensions of 66 mm × 72.6 mm (2.60 in × 2.86 in).

Its 1.2-liter engine was taken out of the Volkswagen Lupo to produce 100 hp. The three-cylinder turbo motor has even been modified to provide as much as 120 hp at 250 ft-lbs of torque and 5500rpm. Star Twin used modeling software to remodel car parts into lighter components and also make motorcycle parts stronger.

BSA A7 Star Twin/Shooting Star. . . There were two versions of the A7, the original 495 cc (30.2 cu in) version, and an improved 497 cc (30.3 cu in) version launched in 1950. Although its name was changed to the Star Twin and later the Shooting Star the BSA A7 continued in production with minor modifications until 1961.
