Hoorn
Hoorn ( anhören ⓘ /?) ( westfriesisch Hoorn) ist eine niederländische Stadt im Osten der Provinz Nordholland, die in der Region West-Friesland liegt. In der Gemeinde wohnen 75.230 Menschen (Stand 1. Januar 2023) auf einer Grundfläche von rund 53 km². Hiervon sind rund 33 km² Wasser. Die Orte Blokker und Zwaag gehören ebenfalls zur Gemeinde.

In Hoorn op de nieuwe oeverdijk ligt het grootste aan een meer gelegen stadsstrand van Nederland. Dit ligt tussen de schouwburg Het Park en de Galgenbocht. Ontdek het stadsstrand Kom op de fiets! Eerste deel open Het eerste deel van het strand is open, van de schouwburg tot aan de uitkijkheuvel. De parkeerplaatsen zijn helaas nog niet klaar.

Hoorn at that point was decreasing as a harbour city of note, but instead rose to a more prominent role as a trade city. At its peak, the Hoorn cheese market saw some 3,000,000 kilograms (6,600,000 lb) of cheese being traded per year. The market, however, eventually was discontinued in the 20th century. The weighing house has since seen usage.

Hoorn is well known in the Netherlands for its rich history. [6] The town acquired city rights in 1357 and flourished during the Dutch Golden Age. [2] In this period, Hoorn developed into a prosperous port city, being home to one of the six chambers of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). [6]
